Dr. Leeds was the first board certified veterinary surgeon in Los Angeles, and has been performing surgery on a referral basis in Los Angeles since 1974.

Dr. Leeds received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ohio State University in 1966.

Following graduation he completed a 15 month rotating internship at the prestigious Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Mass. Upon completion of his internship, Dr. Leeds was appointed as the first surgical resident in Angell Memorial's history.

As part of his residency Dr. Leeds taught surgery to the senior students at the Harvard Medical School while rotating through the surgical Procedures of the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital.

Following his residency he became a fellow in the Department of Surgery at the New England Medical Center and instructor in surgery at the Tufts Medical School in Boston, Mass.

Dr. Leeds became certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1973. He has lectured extensively at the international (Japan), national, and local levels and has authored and co-authored dozens of papers in the fields of orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Leeds established the Surgical Group for Animals in Los Angeles in 1976.
